BOULDER, Colo. (Sept. 8, 2008) – On September 9th and 10th, 2008 the University of Colorado Foundation will host the fourth annual “Endowment Forum for Chief Investment Officers” on the CU Boulder campus.
The purpose of the conference is to discuss best practices in endowment management and emerging investment themes in a commercial-free setting.
Limited to 25 predominantly University Foundation/Endowment Chief Investment Officers (CIOs), this year’s confirmed attendees include CIOs from the University of Michigan, Texas Christian University, Georgia Tech Foundation, Colorado State University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Illinois Foundation, Bucknell, College of William & Mary, the University of Oklahoma and the University of Arkansas Foundation.
In an effort to collaborate with industry peers, CIO’s from Boeing, Qwest, Colorado PERA, the State of Idaho and the Fire & Police Pension Association of Colorado will also attend. The combined invested assets of the participating institutions exceed $160 billion.
“Higher education continues to be squeezed by shrinking state support and a rising cost structure. Endowments are critical to provide long-term funding streams for the universities and colleges we support,” commented conference founder and organizer, Chris Bittman, Chief Investment Officer of the University of Colorado Foundation. “Plus, the difficult markets make this a particularly timely event.”
“Last year, conference participants walked away armed with new ideas for prudently maximizing their endowment investment performance.”
William Donaldson, 27th Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission will be the keynote speaker at the September 9th dinner.
