COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The University of Colorado Foundation named Brian Winkelbauer as vice president for development, effective April 1.
Winkelbauer will lead University of Colorado at Colorado Springs fundraising activities and manage the foundation’s local staff of six.
Winkelbauer has been senior director of development for the foundation since 2006, overseeing fundraising for CU-Boulder’s campus programs. From 1993 to 2004, he served in several positions for CU-Boulder Athletics, and previously served as instrumental music teacher and director at Wasson High School, Colorado Springs.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in music education from CU-Boulder.
“Winkelbauer has shown great devotion to CU, and his fundraising acumen and leadership will bolster private support for UCCS as it continues its growth trajectory,” said Wayne Hutchens, chief executive officer, CU Foundation.
Winkelbauer replaces Maurin Anderson, who in 11 years at UCCS oversaw a more than tenfold increase in private support.
“I hope to further the relationships Maurin has developed within and beyond the UCCS family,” Winkelbauer said. “UCCS has become a premier Colorado institution and a vital community asset under Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak’s leadership. I am eager to help the university achieve its vision.”
Founded in 1967, the nonprofit CU Foundation partners with the University of Colorado to raise, manage, and invest private support for the university’s benefit. Visit www.cufund.org for more information.
