Carolyn Whitehead, Vice President for Development, Boulder Campus

Carolyn J. Whitehead

Carolyn Whitehead’s career in higher education development spans 20 years as a full-time professional, and four more prior to that as a student worker and volunteer while in college.  Her experience includes fundraising management, volunteer recruitment and management, formulating and implementing annual as well as capital campaigns, and working directly with donors at all levels of giving.  Her background includes positions at small, private liberal arts colleges (her alma mater, St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, North Carolina and Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina) and at a large public university (University of Colorado at Boulder/University of Colorado Foundation).

She joined the University of Colorado Foundation in January 1999 as Director of Development for the School of Law. She was promoted to Assistant Vice President in June 2003, and assumed her current role as Vice President for the Boulder campus in August 2004.

Carolyn has volunteered for several community organizations in North Carolina and Colorado, including historic neighborhood associations, March of Dimes and the Colorado Symphony.  Currently she is enjoying pro-bono work with There With Care, a Boulder-based non-profit (with a location now in Denver) dedicated to supporting children and families facing critical illness.  Carolyn and her husband, Adam, enjoy running, skiing, mountain-biking, hiking, reading, cooking and entertaining friends and family.
