nvestment Activities comprise 80% of the Foundation’s $717 million asset base as shown on page 1. This investment summary was produced by Foundation staff and others to provide Trustees, Directors and other donors, prospects and interested parties with an overview of these investments. We hope you will find it informative and that you will provide feedback by phone or via the web site on your thoughts and suggestions, so that this “first issue” can continue to be improved.
There has been confusion in the past concerning many of the terms used surrounding the various restrictions and designations of donor gifts and the investment vehicles managed by the Foundation. This is understandable. This information folio is organized by donor designation or restriction. Thus, you will see four primary restricted categories: Foundation Endowment, Custodial Endowments (endowment monies the Foundation manages for the University and others), Callable Funds (endowment distributions and current gifts), and Life Income Arrangements (Trusts). The three main investment vehicles are the Long Term Investment Pool, the Short Term Investment Pool and the mutual funds used for the trust accounts. Several other smaller separately managed vehicles are not specifically mentioned here. We hope you find this easy to understand and useful.
