Thank you to all the alumnae/i and other individuals, foundations, and corporations that have been generous with gifts to the University of Colorado Foundation benefiting the University of Colorado. This investment booklet describes your gifts and how they are invested. For those thinking of a gift, thank you for your interest. We hope this brochure will broaden your understanding of investment activities at the University of Colorado Foundation and increase your interest in providing financial support to Colorado’s flagship educational institution, the University of Colorado.

The June 30, 2004 audited financial statements list total assets of $765 million, up 11% from 2003. The $619 million in investments and cash comprise 81% of the asset base, an increase from 76% of total assets last year due primarily to investment gains. This “second issue” of Investment Activities is divided into two parts: Part 1 - Donor Designations, describes donor gift designation (Endowments, Callable Funds, Trusts) and Part 2 - Investment Vehicles, describes the investment vehicle holding the monies (Long Term Investment Pool, Short Term Investment Pool, Mutual Funds). Each section’s categories describe assets of $619 million, the total of investments and cash on the balance sheet for 2004 and provides a current investment overview for Trustees, Directors, other donors, prospects and interested parties, including our partners at the University of Colorado and for Foundation staff.

Thank you to all who provided thoughts and suggestions on the “first issue”. We encourage you to do the same this time so that we can continue to make this a useful and current resource. As always, we hope you find this issue to be as useful as it was fun to produce.
