Local Volunteer Makes Big Impact for CU-Boulder Athletics

On game days in the fall, Allan Goetz never misses a football game at Folsom Field. During basketball season, chances are Goetz can be found at the Coors Events Center, watching hoops. A third-generation alum, Goetz has always loved being a part of the CU family. This compels him to give back—with dollars and time—to the university.

In the early 1990s, the coaching staff would visit all parts of the state to promote CU-Boulder’s athletic programs. Always looking for a way to show his lifelong appreciation for CU, Goetz jumped in and spearheaded the northeastern part of this “State Tour.” He’s been part of the success of CU’s athletic program ever since.

A member of the Buff Club cabinet and an annual basketball scholarship donor, Goetz is a fervent supporter of student-athletes. “CU isn’t just turning out athletes, it’s producing phenomenal young people. I want all these athletes to leave CU with a degree, lifelong friendships and an appreciation for being a
Buff—in that order.”

This past year, Goetz stepped up his support, donating funds to build and furnish the new Basketball Operations Center. Getting excited about all the positive momentum, he envisions the day when CU brings home a NCAA championship trophy. The future of CU-Boulder’s athletic program is looking bright. And donors like Allan Goetz will be a big part of its success.
