A Rich Career Crowned by a Lasting Legacy
During a career spanning nearly 40 years, University of Colorado Denver Professor Emeritus of History Mark S. Foster consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and community service.
Honored as the CU-Denver Teacher of the Year in 1983, Researcher of the Year in 2001, and recipient of a University Medal in 2007, Professors Foster’s accomplishments and contributions have been an inspiration in the university community.
Since retiring, Foster continues to devote his time and energy to enriching the lives of others. Between volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and playing several positions on a vintage baseball team, Professor Foster continues to research and teach.
He also found time to build on his life’s work by creating the Mark S. Foster Faculty Research and Support Fund to promote excellence in faculty research in the history department. Valuing the exceptional contributions being made by tenured faculty members, Foster established the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award.
Along with a recent bequest to cap his future support, Professor Foster’s philanthropy will extend his impact in a profound and lasting way—a grand legacy crowning an exemplary career.
