NEW TRUSTEES ELECTED FALL 2016 (*only CU degrees noted)

LAJEUNE AUSTIN  (CU Denver, 1997 AS B.A. Political Science; 2003 GR M.A. Technical Communication)

LaJeune spent 25 years working in financial services helping clients save for retirement and most recently as a senior director of Compliance at TIAA before she retired.  She is active in volunteerism in the Denver community and currently works with United Way, AARP Foundation and the Colorado Talking Book Library (a library for the visually impaired).  She attended CU Boulder, but ultimately obtained both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from CU Denver. LaJeune lives in Denver where she enjoys playing tennis, attending Bronco football games, and CU sports – particularly tennis, basketball and football.

FRANK BARNES  (CU Boulder, Faculty, Distinguished Professor Emeritus)

Dr. Barnes has served on the faculty in Electrical Engineering at CU since 1959 and as department chairman of Electrical Engineering, and acting dean of the College of Engineering.  He co-founded the Interdisciplinary Telecommunications Program in 1971 and help establish the electrical engineering departments in Denver and Colorado Springs.  He and his wife Gay live in Boulder.

TODD FREDRICKSON  (CU Boulder 1987 AS B.A. Political Science; 1991 J.D. Law)

Todd is the regional managing partner of the Denver office of Fisher & Phillips LLP, a national labor and employment law firm representing employers.  He is the former chair of the CU Law Alumni Board; a former president of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association; national chair of the Fisher & Phillips Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee; and board member for Urban Peak Denver and the National Sports Center for the Disabled.  Todd and his wife Jenny, also a CU alum, have a son and a daughter currently attending the Leeds School of Business at CU Boulder.

JAMES GALLOGLY  (UCCS 1974 LS B.A. Psychology)

Jim retired in 2015 as chairman of the management board and chief executive officer of LyondellBasell Industries N.V., a large polymers, petrochemicals and refining company.  Before joining LyondellBasell, he held numerous executive positions at ConocoPhillips, ChevronPhillips and Phillips Petroleum.  In addition to several corporate and educational boards around the nation, Jim has served eight years as a member of the CU Boulder Engineering Advisory Council. Jim and his family support major initiatives on both the UCCS and CU Boulder campuses.  He and his wife Janet reside in Houston, Texas.

DANIEL HERNANDEZ  (CU Boulder 1990 EN B.S. Electrical and Computer Engineering)

Throughout his career, Dan has held executive positions with US West, Ameritech Interactive Media Services, SBC Internet Services, and Sykes Enterprises.  He currently is managing partner of Reteligence, a consultant with Engagement Solutions, and owner and chief fitness officer of The Bod Fitness Center in Tampa, Florida.  Dan has served as a member of the Engineering Advisory Council, the Multicultural Engineering Program Advisory Council and the Engineering Resource Development Committee for the College of Engineering at CU Boulder.  He has also been a recipient of the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award.  Dan and his wife Jasmin live in Tampa, Florida.

STEPHEN KATZ  (CU Boulder 1971 BU B.S. Accounting; B.A. Economics)

Steve was born and raised in New Orleans, but matriculated at CU Boulder on a swimming scholarship in 1967 and earned a B.S. in accounting and a B.A. in economics.  After his graduation and a year of world travel, he contemplated a career as a boxer in Denver and was a runner-up in the Golden Gloves. He eventually went into the family garment-manufacturing business and bought the controlling interest in 1982 and sold out in 1993.  That same year he started Katz Factoring in New Orleans, which has led to various real estate and venture capital endeavors.   He and his wife Mary Sue now live in Vail, after Hurricane Katrina flooded their primary residence in New Orleans.  Steve’s move to Colorado has rejuvenated his affiliation with CU Boulder and the Leeds School of Business.

ANDREW LARSON  (CU Boulder 1986 BU B.S. Business)

Andrew is the chairman and chief executive officer of Gustave A. Larson Company, a wholesale distributor of refrigeration and HVAC products in 22 states.  He is also co-owner of La Encantada Vineyard and La Encantada Estate Wines in the Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara County, CA.  The Larson Family founded the Larson Building Systems Lab in the Joint Center for Energy Management at the CU School of Engineering and provides scholarships to these CU Engineering students.  Andrew and his wife Amy live in Boulder and have four children.

DAWN LOVE  (CU Boulder 1991 JR B.S. Broadcast News )

Dawn Massop Love is the senior regional marketing manager for Comcast Spotlight Mountain Region.  She manages internal and external branding and marketing campaigns and promotions with various clients and cable network partners.  Dawn served on the Board of Directors/Advisors of the CU Boulder Alumni Association twice, once in the 90’s and currently for the past five years including chairing the Marketing Communications Committee. She also a member of the Director’s Club.  She was very active at the University from serving as Student Body Tri-Executive, in the Golden State Buffalo Marching Band, and being an active member in multiple student groups. From Jamaica to Colorado, Dawn embodies both cultures of her past and present countries with an inviting and fun demeanor. Dawn is the mother of two beautiful children, Julia and Jameson, and married to her CU college sweetheart, Patrick, who she has been with for nearly thirty years.  They live in Lafayette, CO.

SCOTT MARTIN  (CU Boulder 1980 EN B.S. Chemical Engineering)

T. Scott Martin is managing partner of Rivercrest Capital Management and chairman of Rivercrest Royalties and a director of Kimbell Royalty Partners.  He founded three successful independent oil and gas companies which were later sold to Occidental Petroleum, Exxon-Mobil and SandRidge Energy respectively. Scott is a founding member of the Common Sense Policy Roundtable, a non-profit free enterprise think tank dedicated to the protection and promotion of Colorado’s economy. He is on the advisory board of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado in Boulder.  He and his wife Janet reside in Boulder.


Danny is president of The Equity Group, a Colorado Springs real estate firm specializing in asset, property, construction and investment management, as well as land development and investment syndication.  He is a Colorado native and invests in our next generation of leaders through educational institutions and whole health related programs.  Danny is on the Dean’s Executive Advisory Board for the College of Business at UCCS.  He and his wife Becky reside in Colorado Springs.

WILLIAM NELSON  (CU Boulder 1977 AS B.A. History)

Bill is a Colorado native and grew up in the Denver area.  He earned his B.A. in History from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1977.  After a brief time at graduate school at Georgetown, he chose to go to law school at the University of Denver.  Upon graduation, Bill served as the law clerk to the Honorable Jean S. Breitenstein on the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He entered private practice in 1983 and is an attorney and partner with Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP.  Bill serves on many community boards and is chairman and advisory board member of UCCS’s Theatreworks.  Bill and his wife Laura make their home in Colorado Springs.

DWIGHT RYLAND  (CU Boulder 1964 ED B.S. Education)

Dwight is retired, but early in his career was an educator, teaching social studies for 14 years.  He was also a certified optician from 1989-2006. He was married to his wife Jessie for 43 years (deceased 2015).  Dwight is a Buffs fan and has followed CU sports since 1948.  He lives in Boulder.

MICHAEL SAVAGE  (CU Boulder 1992 AS B.A. History; 1996 J.D. Law)

Michael is a senior vice president with U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Washington, D.C., which he joined in 2008.  A resident of the District of Columbia, he is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Colorado Bar and holds the CERTIFIED FIANCIAL PLANNER certification.  He currently serves on the Law Alumni Board of the University of Colorado.

TED SCHAEFER  (CU Denver 1987 BU M.B.A.)

Ted retired as the principal of PwC in 2016 after 27 years of service.  Before retiring, Ted led the PwC Risk Assurance team in both the Denver and Salt Lake City markets. He was a founding member of the University of Colorado Denver’s Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) and served on the board from its founding until 2016.  He is also a member of the board of advisors for the CU Denver business school, with over 15 years on the board.  Ted is a recipient of the CU Denver Alumni Mack Easton award.  He and his wife Christine live in Evergreen.

KATHY SEIDEL  (CU Boulder 1978 AS B.A. History)

Kathy just recently retired as president of The Northern Trust Company, Colorado.  She spent eighteen years with Northern Trust and a total of 25 years in the financial services industry.  In addition to her professional activities, Kathy has served on numerous nonprofit boards including Opera Colorado, the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and the Downtown Denver Partnership.  She has also remained active in the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, having served as Chair of the Trust and Estate Section, the board of the Colorado Bar Foundation and the Waterman Fund. Kathy is currently a member of the University of Colorado (Denver) Business School Board of Advisors and the Alumni Council of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.  She and her husband Jeff Speake live in Denver.

ERIC SIKOLA  (CU Boulder 1995 BU B.S. Marketing)

Eric has been an investor and a software entrepreneur for over 20 years with companies like Forte Software, webMethods, Systinet and Aperture.  Currently, he is the general manager of TriNet Group Inc.  Eric was the founder and CEO of App7, Inc. (dba ExpenseCloud) which was sold to TriNet Group Inc. in 2012.  Eric and his wife Allyson support the Leeds School of Business and Athletics at CU Boulder and live in Pacific Palisades, California.

MELINDA YEE  (CU Boulder 1992 BU B.S. Accounting)

Melinda is a partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP in its Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures practice. She specializes in providing strategic advice to financial and strategic buyers on the due diligence, deal structuring and financial reporting aspects of their transactions.  She is a licensed CPA in Colorado and Texas.  Melinda serves on the Boulder Campus’ Leeds School of Business Board of Alumni and Friends.  She is a United Way of Greater Houston Women’s Initiative Steering Committee member and serves on the Advisory Board for the Houston Chapter of Women’s Energy Network.  Melinda lives in Houston but will always consider Colorado home. She enjoys traveling to international destinations and practicing her photography skills.
