University of Colorado School of Medicine grant will enhance early childhood mental health

New Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Will Feature Innovative Green Roof, With Nu Sigma Nu Donation
The University of Colorado Denver today announced that the new Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus will incorporate healthy living into the facility’s very design by constructing an innovative “Green Roof.” The Green Roof will allow the Center to grow its own fresh, healthy produce onsite, and is possible thanks to a generous donation of $650,000 from a fund established by the historic Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity.

$1.88 million grant will help new CU eight-year medical-training track fill Colorado physician gaps
The University of Colorado established a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science-Doctor of Medicine (BA/BS-MD) program in 2010 to cultivate more physicians to serve Colorado’s underserved communities. This month, a $1.88 million Colorado Health Foundation grant gives the BA/BS-MD program a critical boost—providing funding for the eight-year curriculum track beginning with undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Denver Campus, and concluding at the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Legacy gift from CU-Boulder teaching legend will support faculty outreach, scholarships
Klaus Timmerhaus left a majority portion of his estate gift to support a Timmerhaus Teaching Ambassador Award under the auspices the university’s President’s Teaching Scholars Program. The award will honor strong teaching and showcase the high caliber of faculty on CU’s four campuses; the honoree will travel around the state to speak to groups about the university’s strengths and attributes.

To honor a father who stoked their love of history and respect for civil rights, Boulder sisters and University of Colorado Boulder alumnae Midge Korczak and Leslie Singer Lomas have donated $2 million to endow the Louis P. Singer Endowed Chair in Jewish History at CU-Boulder.
