The University of Colorado Denver today announced that the new Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus will incorporate healthy living into the facility’s very design by constructing an innovative “Green Roof.” The Green Roof will allow the Center to grow its own fresh, healthy produce onsite, and is possible thanks to a generous donation of $650,000 from a fund established by the historic Nu Sigma Nu medical fraternity.

$1.88 million grant will help new CU eight-year medical-training track fill Colorado physician gaps

The University of Colorado established a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science-Doctor of Medicine (BA/BS-MD) program in 2010 to cultivate more physicians to serve Colorado’s underserved communities. This month, a $1.88 million Colorado Health Foundation grant gives the BA/BS-MD program a critical boost—providing funding for the eight-year curriculum track beginning with undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Denver Campus, and concluding at the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Klaus Timmerhaus left a majority portion of his estate gift to support a Timmerhaus Teaching Ambassador Award under the auspices the university’s President’s Teaching Scholars Program.
